The start of 2018 brought a great deal of change to the Atlanta 55+ Housing Council — change that helped spur a notable amount of membership growth.
The council represents a group of housing professionals focused on the active-adult population. And after bringing on several new board members, realigning its budget and clearly defining its goals, the council quickly got to work on a critical step: recruiting sponsors.
Through some strategic outreach, the council not only met its sponsorship goal, but exceeded it by $3,750 — something it hadn’t done in several years.
With the additional revenue, the council decided to work with one of its sponsors, Southeast Mortgage, to produce a recruitment video to feature at all of its events, as well as via social media and on its website. So far, the video is proving to be a wise investment, helping inspire several prospective members to join.
The council is also focused on making the most of its three member recruitment events this year by enhancing the program content to make it even more appealing and applicable to prospective members:
- The first event of the year in March successfully garnered a handful of new council members. Featured speaker Allen Harris of Bailey-Harris Construction Co. shared the steps he took to successfully build his first active-adult community, Springs of Mill Lakes in Alabama.
- The second event will feature a site tour of Kolter Signature Homes. The tour will be followed by an panel of experts discussing what to consider when building a 55+ active-adult community, as well as which trends are having the biggest impact on this growing housing market.
